Services: Rehabilitative Exercises

Rehabilitative exercises help build strength but just as important they help reconnect the brain to the injured area. Dr. Pietrantone will first restore function in the injured muscles and the prescribe specific rehabilitative exercises to reinforce his therapies.

Core and spinal stability training is a focus for almost every spinal injury. There are hundreds of tiny muscles in the spine that attach from vertebrae to vertebrae coating the spine from the low back all the way up to the neck. These muscles form the foundation on which larger muscles pull. If that foundation or your spine is weak subluxation or injury is likely to occur. Core muscles include the transverse abdominus, rectus abdominus, obliques, quadratus lumborum and the sacrospinalis. Muscles of the core and spine tend to atrophy or become inactive when not in use. People who are inactive most of the day or sit at a desk are sure to have a weak core and spine as a component of their condition. Patient’s that have a strong core and spine musculature tend to have fewer injuries and when they do, they bounce back quicker.

If your injury is an extremity such as a knee or shoulder, you will receive specific exercises for those areas. If you are recovering from a surgery you will be progress slowly and move gradually to more difficult exercises. Core and spinal exercise will still be part of your rehab program because a weak core and spine can negatively affect your recovery.
